Big C mobile, second largest mobile retail chain in south India, has intended to improve its growth by investing Rs. 50 crore in the coming year. It is focusing to boost up its stores to 200 by March 2010. As an initial stage, it is aiming for 100 stores in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka by March 2009. By 2010, it will be extending its network stores to Tamil Nadu and Kerala marketplace.
At present Big C mobile have 54 outlets with 50 in Andhra Pradesh and four in Bengaluru. Big C mobile is planning to setup its stores in Tier I and Tier II cities like Mysore, Hubli, Mangalore, Coimbatore, Thiruvananthapuram, Madurai and Salem where music-enabled and FM phones are going in well established manner. Further, it is seeking to setup the stores in the area between 450 and 2200 square feet.
Adding, the growth in mobile retailing is predicted to 50 percent in next three years with 9 million subscribers every month. Big C mobile is also involved in developing an online mobile store and it is expected within a month. In the last fiscal year, Big C has achieved Rs 180 crore as its revenue and its present fiscal revenue is expected in the range of Rs 250 crore to Rs 275 crore.
