Sarojini Nagar

Sarojini Nagar Market started out as a local shopping area for the huge Sarojini Nagar Government Colony, and has today turned into one of Delhiā€™s most favored places to buy clothes and fabrics at unbeatable prices. It is especially popular amongst students and middle class residents who throng the market on weekends. Apart from a large number of showrooms of various international and local brands, the crux of the market is formed by street side shops which sell garments of all sizes, designs and colors.

In fact Sarojini Nagar Market is one of the few places in the city having pedestrian-only zones, so one can walk around freely without the fear of getting run over by a speeding car. Shopkeepers boisterously hawk their wares while workers unload goods from auto- and cycle-rickshaws, shoppers scurry about, and diners pause over plates of greasy street food.

The back streets of Sarojini Nagar are famous for selling rejected export apparel at bargain prices. In fact the market is also very popular amongst the fashion-buffs since even before the latest couture design hits the boutiques, its cheaper (and fake, of course) version appears here en masse. There are no changing rooms because it is pretty much a long road with make-shift shops on both sides but the prices are so unbelievably low that there is no reason to complain.
